Our Soccer Son

Evan played on his very first athletic team...and a soccer star was born! It was so much fun! He was the cutest thing all decked out in his soccer gear...uniform, shin guards, socks, cleats, etc. He loved to play and ran with all of his heart. Even if he wasn’t interested in the ball at the moment, he tried hard to make us proud by looking very enthusiastic about playing…even if it was running with all his might and falling to the ground. It was hilarious!

Of course at only three many of the players would kick the ball into the other team’s goal so when Evan scored a goal in OUR goal the fans went wild. It scared Evan when everyone cheered so loud that he started to cry. He ran to his Mommy and got a quick reassuring hug as was back at it. Goals after that were big fun to him! He played on the same team as his best buddy, Isaac Casola. They were a hoot together at the first practice…putting cones on their heads as hats or throwing grass at each other. They both learned a lot through out the season. The season ended with a party at Stevie B’s Pizza with a Soccer Ball and Goal Cake that Evan and his Mommy made. Evan is very proud of his Bobble Head Soccer Trophy!

Debbie Ninmann (who is waiting to return to Irkutsk to adopt her son Nathan) and her other son JJ came to visit from Wisconsin. The words Irkutsk Adoption and the internet can create such strong bonds…who would have ever thought that we would become friends with so many families all over the country!?!? We went to the Atlanta Zoo and to the Georgia Aquarium and had a great time…of course a visit to Atlanta isn’t complete without hot dogs at the Varsity. We enjoying having them here with us and it reminds us even more of what a blessing it is for us to have Evan home with us. Brian and Debbie’s first trip to Russia was just a few months after ours, in October 2004. Please pray for all of the waiting families. They are all going through a very hard time especially as the holidays are so quickly approaching.

Halloween was a lot of fun. Evan was the cutest Monkey, Curious George I mean…that you have ever seen! Evan loves to watch Curious George on TV every morning, especially on school days. He can sound just like George…he is his new favorite for sure…so move over Thomas the Train!

Evan is such a blast and makes us laugh everyday, he is such a ham! We are so thankful and so blessed to call him OUR SON!

Brandi,
It was good to get your email. I think of you often. We have some really good friends who have family member adopting from Ethiopia. They are going to get their baby next week. As she tells me of their experiences I always think of your family.

I love reading your blog. I feel connected to your family, even though we don't keep in touch very much. I am so glad to hear you are doing well.

Evan sounds like such a sweet and funny little boy. Abby is growing bigger every day. She will be 10 soon. That blows my mind !!!

I would love to see how Evan is growing, if you can send a picture.

Abby would love to see him, too.
Have a wonderful Holiday Season.

Keep in touch.
