Grown Ups Can Play Too...

We spent Friday night out with a few of our closest friends, and when I say out, I mean in ATLANTA!! Yes, I'm now convinced more than ever that grown ups can and should play from time to time. As parents, that's often all we are, which is a wonderful thing, don't get me wrong. However, from time to time we need play time as well.



Yes, sometimes it can be difficult to arrange a sitter and I know we are very lucky with that. And, yes, I also understand that it can be difficult to force yourself to spend the night away from your little ones. However, it is more evident to me now than ever before that in order to be a good Mommy and Daddy as a set, you need Mommy and Daddy time. I'm big on this one!! Clay and I will forever be...a set...together not apart, which is why we must do things as a set from time to time, without kids. Clay and I occasionally go out on a date to dinner and a movie and the three E's spend the night with a grandparent and we always have so much fun. It is important to be a good parent but it is also equally important to be a good spouse and focus your time equally on your him or her. The second one, I understand can be difficult at times, when all you've done all day is taken care of children, changed diapers, fed babies, done homework, the dishes, the laundry, etc., but I believe it's very important.



This weekend we did something that we never do, and that's go out with friends. We had a great time and the ones who didn't get to go along, were truly missed. (Next time!!) We had dinner in Midtown and then went to an improv comedy club downtown. Link We had so much that it's all we've been able to talk about and laugh about too! We hope to make it a monthly thing! It was so much fun to forget about the responsibilities of home life for just a night and pick them back up the next morning and this is why I'm convinced that Grown-Ups can and should play too!
