Backyard Campout...

A-camping we will go,
A-camping we will go,
Hi-ho and off we go,
A-camping we will go.

First we pitch our tent
Next we chop some wood
We light the campfire now
We make smores now
We tell fun stories now
It's time to go to sleep
Ever since the episode of Curious George where George goes camping, Evan has wanted to “have a camp.” We kept telling him that it was too hot that we would do it once the weather cooled off. Boy, he didn’t forget! As soon as we had one random cool, crisp morning, he quickly let us know that it was time for his camp.

The boys had a ball!! We had Wesley over and the Casola kids. They had so much fun running around the yard, chasing each other, and playing with Wesley’s walkie-talkies. Paul put the fire pit (if you can call it that) together and grilled hot-dogs while Clay finished up a few lose ends.

I helped the kids create nature buckets (I’ll try to add a photo later-I didn’t take one for some reason.) They turned out so cute! Evan and I made one last year, when we went to the mountains. Then they ate hotdogs…you can’t camp out without hotdogs for dinner.

Once it got dark, we built a fire and roasted marshmallows to make sores. Four boys around an open fire, with flaming marshmallows on coat hangers, was a disaster waiting to happen, but no one was hurt. LOL

After the fire hype died down, they ran around chasing each other and hiding in the dark with their mini-flashlights that we bought them. (Gotta love Target’s $1 aisle) Then it was time to settle down into their tents. Wesley decided that he wanted to go home; after all, it is crazy to sleep in a tent when you have a nice cozy bed waiting for you and the fun was over anyway. The sleeping arrangements were, Clay, Evan, Isaac and Jake in one tent and Paul and Haley in the other. Clay snuck inside around mid-night and Evan followed shortly when he awoke with cramps in his legs from playing so hard. Jake and Isaac moved into Paul’s tent and Haley ran for the guest room (smart girl).

We had so much fun and Evan is so ready to do it again!

I FINALLY got to your blog. I feel like I've missed so much of "life". I miss my bloggin' and updates from all my friends. It was great to catch up and find out what is happening with y'all. This We met with Kirsten & Vince earier in the week, and had hoped to have them and others over today for a celebration - but that didn't happen. The Groffs did come by for a few hours and brought lunch. It was great to be with American friends again! Since they are leaving, I Kirsten gave me the coat she picked up here at a 2nd had store since she forgot her own winter coat!
