Every year we have Chimney Swifts that make their nests in our ferns on our front porch. This year has been a little different, instead we have two Mourning Doves. They are just beautiful! I won't be getting any more pictures of them for a while. While doing some research this morning I read that they can get frightened away very easily and leave their eggs behind. Also, during my reaserach I learned that the eggs are sat on consantly, they are never alone. The birds take shifts...the male during the day and the female at night.
The fern can be seem from the playroom window and I love walking past it each day and checking on our beautiful daddy bird who sits there all day without much movement at all. Seeing him gives me a quiet happiness and calmness, he looks so peaceful. The dove is known as a symbol of peace. When I look out and see him sitting there, it's like I can feel God's peace of all things each time that I see him. It's like a smile sent from Heaven!

Brandi,
These pictures are beautiful! I can't believe you got the "shift change". Bet not too many get to see that.
I love all of your background info on the birds. How neat!
