For Years now, Evan has had a fascination with Bumblebees, carpenter bees actually. His
Ampa taught him that the ones with a white dot on their head can't sting you. Every summer Evan spends hours catching bees with his net and putting them in his bug box. He keeps them for a couple of hours and then lets them go. He loves to examine them up close, hold them, and listen to them buzz near his ear. He enjoys them so much that he even wanted a Bumblebee cake for his adoption day in 2007 (which you can see below). I had a lot of fun making it.
A couple of weeks ago we were enjoying a beautiful Spring day when he spotted a bee. He got his net and tried to catch it but accidentally hit the bee and injured it's wing. He was very sad, but carefully placed it on a flower so that he could eat.
In-case you don't believe me about them not stinging you can check out this site.
LOL The male carpenter bees don't sting.

Ella was very interested in the bee and giggled when it crawled on her arm...Elijah was having too much fun with the water hose to come check it out.

love the picture of Elijah with the hose...you'd swear that there's a magnet in all garden hoses that attracts kids, wouldn't ya?
Oh my goodness! What a good mommy! I would have freaked out and run inside leaving the kids to deal with the bee... although I guess seeing as how the bee doesn't sting they would have been fine =)
