First of all.. NO I DO NOT BELIEVE IN HOROSCOPES!!!! But I did think this was pretty funny...I randomly came across today's horoscopes while blog surfing... I'm Aries and Clay is Cancer...what do you think...are they right? Wait a minute...on second thought...don't answer that. LOL
Parts of this seems to be true and parts of it couldn't be more wrong.
ARIES - The Daredevil (Mar 21 - April 19)Energetic. Adventurous and spontaneous. Confident and enthusiastic. Fun. Loves a challenge. EXTREMELY impatient. Sometimes selfish. Short fuse. (Easily angered.) Lively, passionate, and sharp wit. Outgoing. Lose interest quickly - easily bored. Egotistical. Courageous and assertive. Tends to be physical and athletic.
CANCER - The Protector (June 21 - July 22)Moody, emotional. May be shy. Very loving and caring. Pretty/handsome. Excellent partners for life. Protective. Inventive and imaginative. Cautious. Touchy-feely kind of person. Needs love from others. Easily hurt, but sympathetic.
Just for fun so don't leave me a comment telling me that I shouldn't read horoscopes!!!! LOL

Happy Father's Day & Happy Birthday
We spent Father's Day driving to the beach so it wasn't very eventful, I felt sorta bad for Clay. Clay and I went shopping for clothes for his gifts this year so he didn't really have much to open, though he did have a wonderful gift that Evan made from school and a framed photo of the two of them. Evan loves the idea behind a "Foam Finger" you know the ones at major league sporting events. I found a shirt for him to wear on father's day that had a picture of a Foam Finger and it said, "Dad's #1 Fan" it was too cute as so perfect!!!
We also celebrated Clay's birthday at the beach, well again, I guess celebrated wasn't the word since we didn't enjoy cake and ice-cream and he'd already bought his presents. I even forgot for a few minutes when we woke up and Evan shouted, "Happy Birthday, Daddy!"
While we didn't do much to make him feel special on Father's Day or his Birthday, I hope he knows how much he is loved by his family. He's the greatest dad and husband anyone could ever ask for.
Here are some of the things that make Clay a great daddy...
*He loves each of his children unconditionally and would do anything for each of them.
*He would spent hours playing baseball in the yard with Evan, even after he just walks in the door from work.
*He will always call Ella, his "little bitty teeny tiny baby girl"
*He loves to get snuggles from Elijah but willingly admits that he's a Momma's boy!
*He doesn't call staying home with the kids, baby sitting, and can't believe that some dads do.
*He misses them when they're not home and hates waking up on Saturday mornings when they're not here.
*He loves that he's the first one to walk into the babies room in the morning and he loves experiencing the joy on their faces when they see their Daddy.
*He loves getting up early with them all and misses morning TV time with just him and Evan but enjoys that he has Daddy time with them all.
* He knows what kind of food the babies need to eat and when. He knows what kind of diapers we need to buy and why we can't buy Huggies...but if he's ever in question...he calls to ask. :-)
*He would travel the world and back (again, :-) ) for Evan. For all three, but that boy has his Daddy's heart.
*He enjoys rubbing in the fact that Evan is a Daddy's boy...they love to talk about sports together.
*He works tirelessly to provide for his family and comes home and works even harder.
* I could go on and on...
All of those things also make Clay a great Husband, but a few more....
*He has a cup of perfect coffee made and waiting for me every morning before I get out of bed.
*He lets me sleep an extra hour in the morning and gets up with the kids.
*He changes and feeds them before I even get up.
*During school, he takes Evan so that I don't have to get the babies in and out of the van.
*He unloads the dishwasher every morning before he leaves for work.
*He takes the trash and does the laundry simply because he knows how much I hate them.
*He makes me laugh and can easily find humor in a situation.
*He loves me for who I, no matter what. Even when I become an emotional mess from time to time.
*He would do anything to make me happy.
*He understands that I am so overwhelmed and does so much to help out.
*He hates it that he can't give me a house keeper, a yard man, hours of spa time and quiet vacations with just the two of us.
* He sees the need that I have for us to be alone without kids.
*He feels the same way that I do about discipline, kids sleeping in their beds, eating at the kitchen table as a family, and quality time spent together.
*He has such beautiful blue eyes, especially in a light blue shirt and God gave them to each of my boys.

Okay...I guess...I should stop now. lol I love you Clay and just wanted you to know how thankful I am for all that you do for our family!

Just another reason why I love my husband...
I came across this today while cleaning out some files on our computer. Clay wrote this to enter me into a Mother's Day contest that the local spa was having...while we were waiting for Evan to come home. Ahhh, my sweet darling husband...I love you!
January 2005
My wife Brandi Hodges, is a first grade teacher at Oak Hill Elementary. We have been married for seven years. For four of those years, my wife worked full time while attending college at night. She graduated in June of 2003. It was one of her dreams to become a teacher. Another of her dreams was to become a mother. We had been trying to get pregnant for about a year and a half when in September of 2003, we felt led to international adoption. We researched it on the Internet, talked to friends who had adopted, and finally went to a seminar. We decided on Russia, and began processing what seemed to be bottomless piles of paperwork. We have been fingerprinted four times, had our blood taken twice, been visited by social workers, and even had our septic tank inspected. We were told that we may possibly have a child by the summer! Then on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 we received a phone call that we will never forget. A baby boy, less than nine months old, was available for us to adopt from Irkutsk, Russia, in Siberia. We went to the adoption agency, where we were shown pictures and video. He was healthy and beautiful, and he was going to be ours. The weeks that followed were a blur of excitement, nervousness, and planning for a trip to the other side of the globe. The way Russian adoptions work, we were to visit the child, sign some documents showing our intent to adopt him, and come home and wait for a court date. We were told that it usually takes ninety days. I was very concerned about my wife. Three months away from her child would be unbearable. I didn't know how she could stand it. She is the most tenderhearted person that I've ever met. If only we'd known.......
We arrived at the Angarsk Baby Home to meet our son on April 5, 2004. That is the day that Brandi became a parent. She bonded so strongly with our son, and by the end of the week that we spent in Russia, he preferred her over the caregivers that had been with him for the entire seven months he had been in the baby home. It was a bond of a mother and her child, and it was beautiful. On April 8, 2004, while signing additional paperwork, we were given some very discouraging news. The courts were behind already, and about to be shut down for three months for the judge to go on vacation. Our ninety day wait had been extended indefinitely.
Brandi and I are doing okay. We have been informed that our court date could likely be in April, and we will once again hold our son in our arms. We have accepted that our adoption has a specific destination, a happy ending that waits for us in God's time. The journey, however bumpy, is the path that we had to take to get our son in the rightful place that he belongs.
I apologize that I have rambled in this letter, but I felt that, to appreciate why Brandi deserves to be pampered on Valentine's Day, you must understand the whole story.
For the past ten months, Brandi has not only been strong, she has been there for others. Brandi has talked on the phone, the Internet, and even opened our home to others who are going through what we are dealing with. She has found others who are going to our baby home and gotten pictures. Now, as our son grows older, he will have photos and videos from his earliest years, which my wife has stored neatly in a scrap book. The woman that I didn't think would be able to handle a three month wait, is on ten and counting. She has been knocked down countless times as month after month we hold out hope for our date, only to be disappointed again. She has her cry, and then gets up again, and emails all of our friends, always putting a positive spin on the situation, as she asks for prayers. When a woman she had befriended and consoled left to go and bring her son home in December, Brandi got a key from her neighbor and decorated her house for Christmas. She has been an inspiration to me, and will always be, my Valentine.
Thank you for your consideration.

It's hard to believe that Clay and I celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary just over a week ago. Our parents tag-teamed our three E's so that we could go to Savannah for the weekend. We had such a great time reconnecting with each other and just focusing on each other instead of bottles, diapers, homework, dishes, laundry, etc.. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful marriage and have always worked hard to keep each other happy.
We met in July of 1997 and 3 months later we were engaged!!! We met through my Dad who was working for Newton Federal at the time, as was Clay. Clay loves to joke about how my Dad told him about me. He says that he told him that he needed to ask his daughter out. Clay asked how old I was and then said, "She doesn't have a boyfriend does she?" And Randy's reply, was "Well, you know" :-)
When I first met Clay, he came home with Dad for lunch. We had just moved to Dearing Street and Clay's Dad was doing our landscape work. Clay helped Kenneth on Tuesdays when he was off from the bank so I often saw him there working too. I remember him trying to make me laugh once when he was working and it was so not funny. He and Kenneth were putting in a wall at the end of the driveway with cross-ties when I drove up. Dad was standing there talking to them and when I got out I went over to talk to him and he said something like..."We're putting this in so when you come in late you can coast into the driveway." ha ha Very Funny, I thought.
I was working at Belk at the time and a couple of days later I drove up after work and Clay said, "You need to take me shopping so I can use your discount, I need some new pants for work." The next day Clay came over (unannounced) and asked if I could take him shopping. We went to Belk and he didn't buy anything so he suggested we ride up to Uptons. He bought a pair of pants that he never wore! I later found out that he didn't need any pants after all. We then went to Stalvey's for dinner and went to Blockbuster and rented, "One Fine Day." For a non-date it certainly did seem like a date.
The rest is history. We spent everyday after that together. Our first day apart didn't come until he had to go to Athens to Banking School just after we got married. 3 months after our first "non-date" we were in engaged and 9 months later we were married.
On the way down to Savannah we were talking about when were dating and that we could not believe that, it was almost 11 years ago. I had just turned 19 when we got married and Clay was almost 25. We have been blessed with a wonderful marriage and realize that we are very fortunate. We were talking about how young we were and decided that Ella isn't allowed to get married that young. :-)
I married such a wonderful man. He is my everything! Since the babies have been born I really miss him. That might sound cheesy but it's true. We used to spend so much time together after Evan's bedtime, talking and watching tv. Now that time is often interrupted with feedings or a crying baby, but I am still thankful for the season that we are in and so thankful for the interruptions.
He is such a wonderful husband and friend to me and such a wonderful Daddy and friend to our children. Who would have ever thought that 10 years later we would be the Hodges Five!?! When we first started talking about marriage we used to say that we were going to have 3 kids.
He gives so much of his time to our family and does so much around the house for me. To me, he's my best friend, my rock, my strength, my sanity when I don't feel sain, my reality when I'm dreaming, my partner in all things, my calming voice when I'm stressed, my everything, my husband. I don't give him as much credit as he deserves, especially when I get so stressed out about our house. Every morning, he unloads and loads the dishwasher for me and always does the laundry...he's a dream husband...right ladies!?!
To Evan he's a tag-team partner and wrestle buddy, he's a baseball coach, he's a bath time friend, he's a tv partner, he's a snuggle buddy, he's a softy, he's a hero, he's the strongest man in the whole world and best of all he's DADDY.
The 2 hour line that we had to stand in to get reservations for dinner at The Lady and Sons.
Paula Deen's Restaurant
Us Eating at The Lady and Son's
The Best Ever Cupcakes from the Cupcake Emporium. It is a most stop by place if you are ever in Savannah. It's near the square that Forrest Gump was filmed at.
Our Trip...
We even had a great time on the drive down there. We took back roads which was great because I hate riding on I-16. Friday we walked to River Street and ate an early dinner and walked around. We ended up seeing Chocolate Bar while walking back to our hotel. We stopped to find that everything that they served was chocolate!! YUM! Clay had a Chocolate Coffee Martini and I had a Milky Way Martini and we shared a piece of Chocolate Strawberry Cake.
Saturday we had planned to drive out to the beach but they were doing lots of road work so we ended up just riding around and then walked back to River Street. Of course, we couldn't pass up more samples from River Street Sweets. (Yeah, Weight Watchers wasn't a word in my vocabulary that weekend.) We walked through the historic district some more and walked to all of the beautiful squares. And saw tons of Wedding rehearsals and photographs being taken of wedding parties. What a beautiful place to get married. Dinner at The Lady and Son's wasn't until 9:30 so we stopped in a small bar called, "Jen and Friends." It was so tiny but had a great location with tables outside, they call themselves home of the 100 Martinis. We sat outside and enjoyed each other's conversation. We later walked over to The Lady and Sons and had the best dinner ever!!! We both ordered Filet Mignon, which was so tender and juicy! Clay even made the comment that it was worth standing in line 2 hours for. On the way back to our hotel, we walked into a Mexican Restaurant for a couple of drinks and chips.
Sunday morning we walked back to River Street to find something for Evan..."something special that I never had before" is what he requested. We found some "real" pirate money and "real" solider money. (He loved it BTW, and said that it was just what he wanted.) Then we hit the road.
We missed our three E's, especially our biggest E, because he missed us so much, but had a wonderful time. We laughed and said that we wanted to come home just to see our kids but then wanted to stay in Savannah a little longer.
Happy 10th Anniversary Clay, I love you so much! Thanks for everything that you do and for everything that you are.
